Updo Face ShapeAll of us at Updo Guru agree that this is the first aspect to consider before your stylist crafts your look. So what kind of face do you have? Round - Length and width are usually about the same. Oval - Width is half of the length. Oblong - A little longer and less proportionate than the oval. Square - Length and width are about the same. More defined than circular. Heart - Wider at the forehead than at the jaw. Just remember, there’s no need to get carried away with exact measurements of your face. Knowing the basics is a solid start to getting that red carpet Updo look you deserve! Okay, so you’ve figured out the basic shape of your face (give or take). If you determined that oval is your shape, lucky you. The oval face is widely considered as the ideal shape for the updo. Any updo will most likely work. If you have one of the other shapes don’t fret! With some tweaking you can get the perfect updo style to match your beautiful face! Simple Updo TipsRound Face - Think tall. Add some height for a wonderful slimming effect. Keep the focus on top and away from the sides. Oval Face - Any style will work. As a general rule, keep as much hair out of the face as possible. Show off those perfect proportions! Oblong Face - Think small but full. The goal is to shorten up your face. Bangs or a tightpulled back look should work fine. Square Face - Think soft. You want to “smooth” out the rigid features. Messy, funky or curly is a good contrast. Heart Face - With a wider forehead and smaller jaw, the goal should be to take less focus off the top and add some fullness to the jaw.
