The way a bride looks on her wedding day will have a big effect on how she feels. If a bride is unsure about the hairstyle chosen and does not feel comfortable and confident, it can take away from her enjoying her day to the fullest. In order to avoid a wedding day disaster, brides should plan their wedding day hair carefully and complete at least one or two trial runs, called consultations, before the actual event. Although there are extremely talented hair stylists out there, it is important to remember that they are not mind readers. The stylist will need some guidance from the bride when it comes to the bridal hair and many prefer to have 4 to 5 pictures of the updo that the bride is considering. Sometimes brides make the mistake of picking one specific hairstyle and are not willing to even think about another style. This can be detrimental due to the fact that certain updos do not look the same on every person. Although an updo may look amazing on a celebrity, it might not flatter every bride. It is for this reason that the bride should reflect on a few aspects before she picks her hairstyle such as the wedding style, wedding location, the season, and gown type. Brides should consider their individual wedding style. For example, are they having a classic and traditional wedding or more of a modern and chic event? Is the wedding going to have a vintage theme or a funky flair? The bride’s hairdo should be a refection of the overall wedding style and the updo should keep in fashion with the whole theme. If you are having a traditional wedding, you may want a more time-honored updo such as a low chignon or smooth bun. A side-swept, twisted updo with a fun accessory may be a better choice for a more modern or contemporary look. The bride-to-be should also keep in mind the time of year the wedding will take place. A half updo may not be the best style for a summer wedding in July or August. With the hot weather, the bride may have to worry about humidity and that the hair will not get frizzy and lose its luster. A summer bride may prefer to have her hair pulled up and back and out of her face in order to stay cool and have the hair look smooth and shiny. When a bride takes the time to make sure that her wedding day updo will complement the rest of her look and the general wedding feel, she will most likely be thrilled with the outcome and feel beautiful on her big day.
