Top 5 Wedding Updos for 2011
|
The 2011 wedding season will bring a barrage of new updo hairstyles to the
aisle. Updos remain to be the most popular choice for brides across the US and Europe and this year we expect
to see a combination of both new and classic styles.
Wedding updos trend according to red carpet appearances by celebrities and are often inspired by celebrity
wedding hairstyles. This year’s biggest event was the royal
wedding which saw Kate Middleton exhibit
a fabulous half up half down look. Expect this look to be popularized throughout Britain and the US this
summer and fall. This won’t be the only trending updo however as we’ve listed an additional 5 updo hairstyles
that can be a starting point for your search for the perfect wedding hairstyle.
- The Twisted Bun – a classic favorite that can be altered to suite your hair texture and
length. You can pull your hair back tight or leave a few loose strands on top or let them dangle to frame
your face. How you wear the bun can be based on your preferences and what suits your face shape
best. The bun could also be sideswept with bangs yielding a formal presence.
- Ponytail with waves – this updo has been popularized by Kim Kardashian this year and is a gorgeous look for long hair or hair
extensions. Simply add curls to your long pony to achieve a classic elegant look that is also fun and
flirty (just like Kim!).
- High Knot Updo - pull your hair up high in back and secure in a bun or chignon.
Allow a loose strand or two to bounce next to your face, framing it elegantly. Add a tiara or headpiece
of choice to complete the ultimate wedding updo. The high bun could also be woven or textured depending
on your hair length and preference.
- Braided updo – the braided wedding updo continues to be
our favorite because of its charm and stylish appearance. Either a plaited look or side bun
incorporating braids are two dazzling options for your big day. Consider a braided band pulled across the
forehead tucked behind the ear. A half updo with curls would also be a great way to complete this
look.
- The French Twist – Don’t sleep on this classic updo that
is both timeless and elegant. Add your favorite sparkling accessory to the back or a live flower if you
are having a beach wedding.
While there are certainly plenty of updos to choose from this wedding season, these are
the five that we predict will be some of the hottest trends for 2011. Celebrities have been creative with
their red carpet styles so far and the same is expected for bridal updos this year.
Remember, your hairstylist is your best friend when planning your wedding hairstyle so consult with them and do
a trial run or two if possible. This is your day that you will remember forever so take the extra steps to
ensure your updo is fabulous!
