The beach is a perfect choice for a wedding venue and is gaining popularity due to its romantic yet casual
appeal. What is more romantic than a perfect sunset serving as a backdrop to dolphins swimming and pelicans diving?
This was the scene I witnessed here on the Emerald Coast in Florida several nights ago as three weddings were
taking place within a half mile of each other on the white sands.
The updos were in full affect as the common theme was an elegant yet casual half up half down updo. This
hairstyle allows for flexibility and can be conditioned to withstand the elements. Even if the forecast calls for
calm air, it only takes one strong gust of wind to destroy certain updos. Therefore, preparation is a must. If you
decide on a beach wedding, we recommend getting your wedding hair done several weeks prior and actually testing it
on the beach. Go down to the beach around the same time of day that you will be getting married (sunrise or sunset)
and see how it reacts and how it holds.
We’ve included one of our favorite elegant yet casual updos that would be perfect for a beach wedding. This is an appropriate style for both the bride or
bridesmaids.
Perfect Beach Updos

The curls are created from a curling iron and are pulled back into a shapely low bun.

Medium hair length is required in order to achieve this look however hair extensions can easily be added to
increase volume. Place a silk flower to one side of the bun to complete the look. If you’re getting married on the
beach, we recommend artificial flowers as live ones may not hold-off mother nature for the duration of the
ceremony.

Reasons for considering a beach wedding
Simplicity
Remove a number of items from that laundry list of preparations that go into planning a wedding. Invite your
closest friends and family and make it special. Besides, the majority of the guests are likely more interested in
the reception anyway!
Memorable
The sights and sounds of that day at the beach will remain with you forever. Anytime you sink your feet into the
sand or feel a soft summer breeze, your senses will bring you back to that perfect day.
Cost
In a down economy we are all looking for cost cutting measures and weddings are no different. Save money on a
venue and all the costs involved by doing it down on the beach
Romantic
In my opinion there is simply nothing more romantic than sharing a sunset on the beach. Why not share in the
most romantic moment of your life in the most romantic setting?
Fun
Amidst all the pomp and circumstance leading up to the big day, it’s easy to lose site that your wedding is
supposed to be fun! Spending your day on the beach will certainly remind you of that and will provide fun memories
for a lifetime.
