Updo hairstyles were all over the red carpet for the 2011 Academy Awards last
night in Los Angeles at the Koday Theater. There were too many fabulous updos to mention so we will list our top 5
of the evening.
There was a variety of gorgeous hair up styles ranging from messy casual updos to sleek elegant looks. Once
again the Updo was the most prominent hairstyle fashioned by the stars. While there were some straight and wavy
styles, updos definitely stole the show.
Mila Kunis Side Swept Updo

Mila fashioned a side-swept look with bangs parted to the side. She had a messy bun pulled up in back that gave
a casual feel to this elegant look. It’s nearly impossible for Mila to not look good and this was another case of
Mila just simply looking stunning on the red carpet.
Hailee Steinfeld – Elegant Updo Bun

Hailee, looking well beyond her years at this year’s awards, sported a high elegant bun that perfectly
complimented her lovely dress . A simple headband added a youthful touch to the True Grit star’s well planned out
look.
Reese Witherspoon Half Up Half Down Updo

As Reese was rolling into the awards in the Limo, you could tell her hair was going to be special before she
even set foot on the red carpet. Reese wore a half up half down style with a
retro feel to it. It brought back memories of her performance as June Carter in the movie Walk The Line.
The look accentuated her strapless dress and perfect face shape.
Mandy Moore Elegant Updo

Mrs. Ryan Adams surprised many with a sleek pulled back updo wrapped tightly in a high bun. The symmetrical bun
which was pulled up in line with the center part could have been the best look of the night. Mandy dazzled during a
duet with Zachary Levi and was certainly the unexpected highlight of the show.
Anne Hathaway’s Different Updo Hairstyles

During the course of the show Anne fashioned a variety of updos, ranging from elegant to casual and fun. She
walked the red carpet with a stunning red dress, gorgeous necklace and a fitting messy
updo. Soft tendrils fell to each side, framing her face while her bun nestled softly above her neckline. Anne
is a movie star and this is exactly how a movie star should look when the bright lights are shining.
Anne’s other updos throughout the course of the night included a messy look with braids as well as a tightly pulled
back style for her song. Our favorite look however was the one she came in with as it fit her absolutely
perfectly.
Other honorable updo mentions of the night included Hilary Swank’s sleek pulled back bun,
Sandra Bullock’s classic updo. Camila Alves also looked stunning as ever
alongside Mathew McConaughey in her black dress, diamond earrings, low cut dress and of course her elegant updo.
All in all updos reigned at the Kodak Theatre and can be expected to be the prominent
hairstyle again for this year’s prom and wedding season.
