2010 Oscar's Updos Review
|
There was certainly a buzz in the air for last night’s eighty second annual Academy Awards. I’m not talking
about the star studded lineup, but rather the glamorous beehive updo that Sarah Jessica Parker was wearing.
Her tall updo was the highlight of the red carpet on a night where conservative styles prevailed. Ms. Parker wore a
tightly pulled back elegant updo in a very high bun. Despite the top being a bit frizzy, we loved the look with her
Chanel Haute Couture dress.

Jennifer Lopez Updo
Jennifer stole the red carpet spotlight with her stunning Giorgio Armani dress and Ferragamo satin pumps. We
barely noticed the enormous diamond-studded earrings as our attention was fixed on her spectacular updo hairstyle.
She has the front lifted a tiny bit to give her some nice height in the form of lovely waves back to the crown. The
curls are left loose to give more of a softer, messy look to this updo. Take notes girls, this will be a popular
one for prom!

Rachel McAdams Updo
Rachel McAdams wore a similar looking pulled back updo which helped distinguish her charming neckline. The
combination of the strapless gown and the pulled back hair is a perfect combination for her longer face shape. We
were expecting more of a half up half down look and for her to somehow incorporate her famous bangs but we’ll
settle for this elegant look nonetheless.

Miley Cyrus Updo
As you can see, updos were the hairstyle of choice for the stars last night. Miley Cyrus followed suit with a
wavy puffed look that was an excellent complement to the long gold earrings. It seemed as though the trends of the
night included a strapless gown, gold jewelry and a pulled back elegant updo. It’s hard to believe that this is
Billy Ray’s daughter already grown up!
Did anyone else see the awkward red carpet moment where Miley’s mom showed Ryan Seacrest her back tattoos? Mrs.
Cyrus looked fabulous and was not shy at all in showing her affection for Ryan. Perhaps next time Billy Ray will
stick to her side!

Amanda Seyfried Updo
Amanda Seyfried’s updo was our absolute favorite of the night. The ‘Dear John’ star wore a chic modern bun that
was the work of celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh. We didn’t know that Amanda had it in her but she showed off a remarkably elegant
side of her at this year’s awards. In her interviews and then while presenting, none of us could take our eyes
off of her.

While Amanda has been in the business for a number of years, we believe that ‘Dear John’ will catapult her into
A-list status before long. She has a number of projects in the works and this is a face (and updo!) that will
not go away anytime soon. So if you’re unfamiliar with her work, we recommend the following:
- Dear John – love story about circumstance and difficult decisions. Be sure to bring a pocket
full of tissues to this one.
- Mean Girls – this is a great high school movie that stars Rachel McAdams. True to hit a
chord with everyone!
- Mamma Mia! – movie version of the Broadway classic!
